Week 3
Cobb got in the endzone 3 times in week 3 bringing his season total up to 4 touchdowns. Cobb also picked up 90+ yards through the air and 11 yards on the ground. Cobb is an all around threat and scored 28 points in week 3. Cobb plays San Francisco week 4 who literally look awful against opposing wide receivers.
Jordy Nelson Down, Cobb Steps Up
Jordy Nelson went down in the preseason and left a huge question mark for the Packers offense that was considered a top offense prior to his injury. Cobb stepped into the role as the number 1 and has so far thrived. Cobb was by no means a bad receiver last year but was simply looked at as a second option when Jordy Nelson was not getting the ball. Cobb is a legit number 1 this season and has been just barely outside the top 5 receivers this fantasy season.
Push for the Top 5
Being a top 5 receiver was no easy task and ultimately Cobb is now surging forward and could easily finish inside the top 5. After Cobb’s 28 point game, he is left just barely outside the top 5 at number 6 overall. After some of the early risers fall off, Cobb will fill in as a top 5. I personally had Cobb inside my top 10 in the preseason because Cobb played well last year even when he was not the number 1 guy. Now with Cobb being the primary target for the NFL’s MVP Aaron Rodgers, the ceiling on Cobb is limitless.
Verdict
Cobb will finish inside the top 5 this year and will certainly keep up with guys like Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. If Julio Jones slows down anytime soon I could see Cobb maybe catching up to him if he has another big game. Ultimately however, Cobb is a great fantasy receiver since he is the number 1 target in a top tier offense.
